SabMais

Overview

When I started at SabMais as Head of Marketing, it was just me and a Designer, handling everything from social media to branding. I was directly involved in content creation, strategy, and growing our online presence. Over time, we built a more structured approach, and in our first year, we gained 883 new followers and increased Instagram engagement by 14.8% in Q3.

Spending two months in Cape Verde made the project feel even more personal. Tutoring Math and English, getting to know the students, and seeing SabMais' impact firsthand changed the way I approach my work. Now, I see marketing not just as growing engagement but as a way to make sure we’re reaching the right people and communicating our mission effectively.

As SabMais grew, so did my role. We brought in an Instagram Manager, which allowed me to focus more on strategy - approving content ideas, ensuring everything aligns with our mission, and overseeing marketing initiatives instead of handling execution myself. I also got more involved in the overall management of SabMais, helping with volunteer coordination, future planning, and broader organisational discussions.

At the end of the day, my focus is on keeping SabMais’ message clear, consistent, and meaningful while making sure our marketing efforts contribute to the organization’s growth.
